European Commission - Efficiency and budget saving for stands considered for ‘re-use’

The EACEA (The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency) and Conceptexpo have signed a 4 years contract for the annual installation of stands of the DG AEC (Education & Culture) at the Cannes and Berlin film Festival and at the MIPCOM Fairs (International Market of Communication Programmes) and MIPTV (International Market of Television Programmes).

The objective was to design, based on a set budget, an ‘Umbrella’1 stand design of which the material can be largely used for those 4 events and for 4 years, while ensuring they are in perfect cohesion with the image and the evolution of communication as set by the GD. All this, taking into account that the four stands have different dimensions and functions: meeting spaces for the festivals and sales for MIPCOM and MIPTV.

Concretely, how to create a reusable stand
  • The structures used are conceived to enable the creation of varied architectures
  • The furniture is tailor-made to be perfectly adapted in terms of image and functionality for each stand
  • The graphic communication is designed to be re-usable and upgradable. It is directly imprinted on the structures and furniture when it is permanent and carried out in lettering when it is temporary.

Some 90% of the partitions and lighting and 100% of the furniture are re-used.

Finally, creating a stand in view of re-use and investment provides many advantages: gain efficiency in terms of organisation, improve the customisation of the stand and the furniture, lower the costs and without forgetting the environmental impact.
The budget impact of course depends on the number of events, the size and function of the various stands, but it can be estimated that the overall savings are around 20%.
Of course, if the overall communication of the brand must evolve during the life of the contract, a re-organisation of the contract can be considered.
